An SR22 form is not insurance.

It is a form to provide proof a driver is currently covered by a state minimum liability insurance policy. States requires an sr22 form filing for drivers who have been convicted of certain traffic offenses such as a DUI, DWI, driving on a suspended license, driving without insurance or are in an at fault accident without insurance.

If you are notified you need to file ansr22 form, check with your car insurance company to see if they can file an sr22 form on your current policy.

Shop around for sr22 car insurance quotes from other providers as well.
Obviously if you do not have car insurance you will need to shop for a policy with an sr22 form filing.

Failure to pay you car insurance premium, will result in your policy being canceled and another form called an SR26 being issued and sent to the Department of Motor Vehicles notifying them the policy has lapsed or canceled and will result in a new suspension being placed on your driver license again and you will need to start the process all over, including paying the fees again.

Car insurance more than likely will cost more; the cost is based on why you need the sr22 form filing.
A major offense like a DUI, DWI or driving on a suspended license will affect your car insurance premium more adversely than a no insurance ticket will.

The sr22 form filing fee should be about twenty five or thirty dollars.
The reinstatement fee from the state varies by state.

Solid advice when buying any car insurance policy is to get car insurance quotes from multiple car insurance companies.
The internet is an excellent way to search for SR22 auto insurance quotes.

Getting an sr22 quote online can save valuable time and effort when you get your driver license reinstated.
